  What is Collagen?  
 


Collagen is a natural part of your skin, giving support and structure to the skin. As the skin ages thinning of the natural collagen can cause wrinkle formation in areas where the skin moves. Additionally, other factors such as environmental exposure to sun and the elements as well as health, hereditary or lifestyle factors can contribute to this phenomenon. Collagen Replacement Therapy uses additional collagen in order to smooth lines and wrinkles and add definition to the lip borders.

Collagen replacement therapy can be used for skin wrinkles and lines such as the smile lines between the cheek and lip (nasolabial folds), lip border, crow’s feet areas as well as worry lines or frown lines of the forehead of between the eyebrows.

  
     
  How long do treatments last?  
 
Treatments generally last from 3 to 6 months
  
     
  Do I need to do anything special before the treatment?  
 
The use of aspirin, ibuprofen, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications or other supplements that cause increased tendency of bleeding or bruising should be avoided for the 10-14 days prior to treatment. Additionally, a skin test must be administered prior to treatment in order to check for allergy reactions.		  
     
  Is the injection painful?  
 


The doctor uses topical and/or local anesthetic in order to minimize any discomfort during the treatment. Many patients say that they are surprised at how easy and simple the treatment process is.
